Bishops’ Appeal is committed to raising awareness about injustice, inequality throughout parishes in Ireland.  Education Advisor Lydia Monds regularly speaks at church services, diocesan synods, conferences and events highlighting the root causes of poverty and our role in responding not just through charitable giving but through action.  This action can be as simple as being more aware of the potential repercussions of our charitable giving, or as demanding as changing our consumeristic lifestyles which drastically affect the world’s poorest.  As part of the 5 marks of mission we are challenged to expose and to transform the systems and structures that keep the majority poor whilst keeping the minority comfortable or in gross excess.
